After a great news A.R. Rahman is in the Oscar race once again for the original score at the 87th Academy Awards, now Sunday's Google doodle is a collage of two scenes from one of Raj Kapoor movies, 1955's Shree 420, where he portrays Raj – a Charlie Chaplin-styled character the actor had previously essayed in 1951's Awaara – a small-town orphan who comes to Bombay (now Mumbai) hoping to make it big.

The doodle depicts Raj Kapoor in his most iconic and remembered role as Raj in the 1955 movie ‘Shree 420′. The background of the doodle picturizes the popular song from the same movie ‘Pyaar Huya Ikraar Huya Hai…’ with Raj Kapoor standing under the umbrella with co-star Nargis.

Raj Kapoor’s accomplishments were not limited to only being the actor for he started his own studio, R. K. Films, hence becoming the youngest film director of his time making at the age of just 24! His made his directorial debut with Aag starring himself, Nargis, Kamini Kaushal and Premnath.

The winner of two National Film Awards and nine Filmfare Awards in India, and a two-time nominee for the Palme d’Or grand prize at the Cannes Film Festival for his films ‘Awaara’ (1951) and ‘Boot Polish’ (1954), Raj Kapoor is nowadays seen being emulated by many young actors of today, including his grand son and heartthrob Ranbir Kapoor. Ranbir has many times himself admitted to have been trying ape his grand dad, for that is the ultimate tribute he can pay to the legendary actor.

Raj Kapoor, a great character of the Hindi Cinema, was born on December 14, 1924 to Prithviraj Kapoor and Ramsarni Devi Kapoor in Peshawar, (presently in Pakistan) in a family of Hindu Pathans. The integral part of the Kapoor family, Raj Kapoor, started his endeavor in the world of entertainment and cinema at the age of 10, with the movie Inquilab in 1935. But his first big break as the leading actor came with the lead role in Neel Kamal (1947) opposite Madhubala who played his leading lady.He died in 1988 at the age of 63.

Sunday's Google doodle collaging Raj Kapoor movies on the star's 90th birth anniversary is only visible in India.

I am so proud of this moment that Google has given a place to our legendary star Raj Kapoor on Doodle. Are you also feeling the same, share your thoughts in the comments.
