It is now final and official, former Prime Minister of India Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee is to be conferred upon Highest Civilian Award of India, The Bharat Ratna. The Bharat Ratna to be given along with freedom fighter and educationist Pandit Madan Mohan Malviya, who was the founder of Banaras Hindu University and he was popularly known as "Mahamana". The announcement of Bharat Ratna by Modi Government is just came one day before the Vajpayee's birthday on December 25 which the government has already declared as 'Good Governance Day'. 25 December is going to be the 90th birthday for former PM Vajpayee and the joy will be double for sure because of the announcement of Bharat Ratna to him. This honor was overdue for Atal ji. Mr Vajpayee, the three-time prime minister considered the gold standard of leadership in the BJP, will be the first leader from the country's political right to be given a Bharat Ratna.

All About Atal Bihari Vajpayee:



Atal Bihari Vajpayee (born 25 December 1924) is an Indian statesman who was the eleventh Prime Minister of India, first for 13 days in 1996 and then from 1998 to 2004. A leader of the centre-right Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he is the first Prime Minister from outside theIndian National Congress party to serve a full five-year term.



A parliamentarian for over four decades, Vajpayee was elected to the Lok Sabha (the lower house of India's Parliament) nine times, and twice to the Rajya Sabha (upper house). He also served as the Member of Parliament for Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, until 2009, when he retired from active politics due to health concerns. Vajpayee was one amongst the founder members of erstwhile Bharatiya Jana Sangh, which he had also headed. He was also the Minister of External Affairs in the cabinet of Morarji Desai. When Janata governmentcollapsed, Vajpayee restarted the Jana Sangh as the Bharatiya Janata Party in 1980.



Vajpayee has an adopted daughter, Namita. He is fond of Indian music and dance. He loves nature and one of his favourite retreats is Manali in Himachal Pradesh.



Vajpayee has said about his poetry, "My poetry is a declaration of war, not an exordium to defeat. It is not the defeated soldier's drumbeat of despair, but the fighting warrior's will to win. It is not the despirited voice of dejection but the stirring shout of victory."



Government of India conferred Atal Bihari Vajpayee with the Highest civilian honor Bharat Ratna on 24 December 2014 announcement of which has been made by the president of India. His birthday, 25 december, has been declared as Good Governance Day by government.
