GOSF: Great online shopping festival was created by Google two years back in December 2012, in collaboration with many Indian online shopping portals. The main idea behind this GOSF festival was to promote the sales of online shopping portals and provide huge discounts to consumers for 2 days. Google has taken this concept of shopping festival from Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals, which was originated in the United States. The Google Great Online Shopping Festival 2014 (GOSF 2014) is no different and it can be called as Black Friday and Cyber Monday of India.


Google partnered with a number of ecommerce portals such as Amazon India, Flipkart, AskMeBazaar, HomeShop18, Snapdeal, PayTM, Ibibo, Indiatimes shopping and Makemytrip, which would participate in the GOSF 2014. The online retailers created dedicated landing pages for GOSF on their respective websites. GOSF site engaged users through games and showing deals & offers and eventually it redirected users to the dedicated landing pages of ecommerce sites to do the final transactions.

This shopping festival always takes place on December month and it lost for 2-3 days of great online deals and discounts. The GOSF 2014 is going to take place between 10-12 December, 2014 this year. In this Great Online Shopping fest, there will be almost 350 eCommerce retailers going to be involved.

Last year GOSF 2013 was announced for 2 days, but online retailers have got a great response from Indian market, so Google had extended 1 more day to this event. So keeping in mind last years response, Google is holding 3 days for the event this year.
