U/A; Action-comedy drama
Happy New Year is full-blown typical Bollywood masala film. Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan combine once again to give us a rock solid entertainer- largely fun. Kudos to SRK for not hogging the limelight. Fantastic action full of fun, except Abhishek Bachchan claps and whistle for ever character entry. You excited to see the second half, 2nd half going in the same pace. The film is expected to cross Rs 40 crore collection at the box office on its first day, thereby creating history.
Happy New Year is built around 5 disparate characters who are fighting a most unlikely battle.. A battle of international proportions.. But it’s a battle being fought on a dance floor. Where the rest of the world’s competitors are battling for national pride and glory on the world stage, our 5 are dancing for a different cause.. Revenge, retribution and closure. This is Team India, a group that has no confidence in its own dancing abilities, but is competing for a cause very important to them.
During the watch of Happy New Year, Shah Rukh shows none of the charm that made him a star. The film is one of the most foolish he’s made and this is one of the worst performances in the actor’s career. He can’t get even a snap of chemistry going with Dipika Padukone in the limp and listless love story of Happy New Year.

Happy New Year Movie Review by Others:
According to First Post:
Technically, HNY is Step Up meets Ocean’s Eleven. Instead of George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon and gang, we get Shah Rukh, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani, Vivaan Shah and Abhishek Bachchan in a script that is like a jenga tower of illogic and cringe-inducing details.
According to IBTimes:
Apart form SRK, the lead roles are played by Abhishek Bachchan, Deepika Padukone, Sonu Sood, Boman Irani and Vivaan Shah. They appear as fake dancers, who attempt the greatest diamond heist ever. The film has Vishal Shekhar’s soundtracks, John Stewart Eduri’s background score, Manush Nandan’s cinematography and Anand Subaya’s editing.
According to IndiaTVNews:
It’s a good family entertainer minus any logics. Happy New Year is an ultimate recipe, which needs to be gulped with immense pleasure. One thing, which is and quite obvious is that had it not been the king of entertainment Shah Rukh Khan, this three hour long movie would not have been that easy to standby.
According to Mid-Day:
Those who love Bollywood for its quirks and idiosyncrasies, will like this film. If you tend to take life and films more seriously than that, watch something else.
