PM Modi attended the 12th ASEAN-India summit on November 12th in Mayanmar and will be at the 9th East Asian Summit in Nay Pyi Taw on November 13. In Australia, he will be at tending the G-20 Summit in Brisbane on November 15-16.

ASEAN
PM Modi has asserted that ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) is at the core of India’s ‘Act East’ policy. Experts say PM’s visit will help in boosting better connectivity, more trade and increased cooperation with ASEAN.

EAST ASIA SUMMIT
At the East Asia Summit, the PM will discuss with ASEAN and seven other global leaders on how to strengthen regional institutions, international norms and regional cooperation in pursuit of peace, stability and prosperity.

Initially comprising 16 countries in the East Asian region, the East Asian summits is held annually. US and Russia have recently jointly this organization.
G-20
Modi will highlight the importance of international cooperation against black money. He will also discuss with other leaders ways to accelerate the creation of next generation infrastructure, including digital infrastructure, and access to clean and affordable energy.

G-20 countries which account for 85 percent of the world’s economic output is a key forum to coordinate activities and pursue collective action to support global economic growth and stability.
In Mayanmar, the PM held talks with president Thein Sein as well as opposition leader and Nobel Laureate Aung San Suu Kyi among others.
Modi will also have bilateral talks with Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott in Canberra after the G-20 summit. He will be the first Indian prime minister to visit Australia in 28 years, since Rajiv Gandhi in 1986.
After Australia, he will visit Fiji, the first Indian prime minister to visit Fiji after a gap of 38 years, the first being Indira Gandhi in 1981. He will hold talks with premier Frank Bainimarama.
