'SHAMITABH' is the third venture of R Balki after 'Cheeni Kum' and 'Paa'. It is based on two characters from Bollywood and their mutual rivalry. It's a story of a mute actor and his voice supplementor. It is a story of clashes between Big Egos. Amitabh Bachchan and Dhanush starring in new Bollywood movie "Shamitabh", the name of this movie has been written in an innovative way that reads "DHANU-SHAMITABH-BACHCHAN". So here I am going to give present dhanu-SHAMITABH-bachchan Movie Review.
Story Plot:
Daanish (Dhanush), a young boy who was born mute, but loved cinema and wanted to be a FilmStar, comes to Mumbai in the hope that he'd make it with either Raj Kumar Hirani or Rohit Shetty or Karan Johar. But it's hard for him to even get close to them. Then one day a kind hearted AD Akshara (Akshara Haasan) noticed him and noticed his acting talent. But being unable to speak Daanish could not get any offers. After all what good is an actor if he can't speak?
Then there comes an old drunken, violent man Amitabh Sinha (Amitabh Bachchan) to their notice, who has a voice that sounds like thunder. Who too had a story. 40 years ago he too came to Mumbai to be an actor. But getting rejection after rejection from producers and even from radio for his voice (same with Amitabh Bachchan himself), he finally ended up with alcohol. Now getting a chance again to be the part of films he agreed to be Daanish's voice. So together they become daani'SH-AMITABH'. The story goes on and then both of their EGO comes out, they fight, they abuse each other and they break off. And after many more quarrel when finally they bound up together the 'R Balki tragedy' happens.
Shamithabh Review:
From her very first scene Akshara Haasan does not seem like she is a new comer. She acted brilliantly in her role against the two superstar Amitabh and Dhanush. Meanwhile Dhanush doesn't have a single word to speak of his own 'Voice', but it does not effect his acting skills to prove again. He has portrayed superbly the character of a mute actor, from his frustration to his timid love towards Akshara. And Amitabh Bachchan, again with his dramatic enthusiasm, mixed with comic and clever expression- left nothing to say about him. His Voice is the Super Subject of the film and director gets it with its full power, emotion and volume.
SHAMITABH is ostentated with P C Sreeram's outstanding camera work and Ilaiyaraaja's fantastic music.
Despite all of this, me being realistic it is hard to believe the main verse of SHAMITABH that uses a little sci-fi technology to give Daanish his 'rented' voice. Also the writing is not too good that SHAMITABH is unable to attract audience's attention towards it in every single moment.
Beside all, the performances of the three lead characters in SHAMITABH was superb, if you like to watch real acting, you would definitely not want to miss SHAMITABH.
All in all the movie dhanu-SHAMITABH-bachchan is super entertainer and the first must watch movie of this year. Oh I forgot to mention. Javed Akhtar, Rakesh Omprakash Mehra, Rekha and many more have cameos in this film.
